Bureau van Dijk
Guiding Decision-making with Comparable Data

Louise Green, CMOBureau van Dijk’s Orbis database has information on around 300 million companies in all countries, including extensive corporate ownership structures, politically exposed persons (PEPs), sanctions, standardized financials, M&A deals and rumors, and ESG reputational risk ratings and metrics. “Orbis is the world’s most powerful comparable data resource on private companies,” states Green. The interface for Orbis and several other products was updated to make them even easier to search for and visualize dynamic company structures and other data using pivot analyses, heat maps and more.
Bureau van Dijk delivers products that play a key role in know-your-customer (KYC) and know-your-supplier (KYS), due diligence checks. Bureau van Dijk delivers extensive ownership information that helps organizations understand the corporate structures and the beneficial owners of the companies they are doing business with.

Orbis helps users enrich and refresh their CRM records, using a range of apps and integration options including a new app for Salesforce Lightning. It also facilitates alerts and sales triggers so users can contact companies as opportunities occur, access projected financials and source documents, and to identify and analyze peer groups to easily compare companies against each other.
Bureau van Dijk combines their comparable company information with purpose-built platforms, called Catalysts, to help users with specific business functions like compliance, credit, procurement, M&A and transfer pricing. This helps customers plan, set policies, manage risk, and document compliance processes. Customers can create a robust audit-defense analysis, fine-tune policies, and prepare TP documentation. The company’s standardized financials help to assess and benchmark companies globally to mitigate financial risk.
Bureau van Dijk is always developing new and innovative solutions for its customers. By combining ownership data with sanctioned and sanctioned-by-extension data, compliance with the EU and OFAC legislation around sanctions becomes much easier. Another example is Orbis Intellectual Property, which links global patent data to companies and corporate groups in a way that’s never been done before.
In the upcoming months, Bureau van Dijk will continue to enrich and expand its private company information database by identifying and integrating new, reliable information sources, and standardizing data to make it more comparable and useful for customers. These solutions offer higher levels of support and certainty for companies. “Our mission is to see organizations and institutions use Bureau van Dijk as their primary source of information on private companies,” concludes Green.
